Senior Artificial Intelligence Solutions Developer of SustAInLivWork Centre of Excellence (CoE)

The SustAInLivWork Centre of Excellence is seeking a highly skilled Project Expert acting as Senior AI Solutions Developer to join the AI Research HUB. The Project Expert acting as Senior AI Solutions Developer will contribute to AI systems development, implementation and cross-disciplinary collaborations in areas such as healthy living, transport, green energy, and advanced manufacturing. The role requires strong hands-on technical skills in modern AI, including deep learning, LLMs, Agentic AI, and Generative AI.

Location: SustAInLivWork Centre of Excellence (CoE) (Artificial Intelligence Excellence Centre at Kaunas University of Technology, Kaunas, Lithuania). The role requires on-site presence at KTU, with the possibility of partial remote work
Reports to: Project Expert acting as Head of the AI Research HUB of SustAInLivWork Centre of Excellence (CoE)
Contract type: Project-based contract, full-time employment (40 hours/week)
Remuneration package: 31,08 EUR per hour, depending on education level, competencies, and professional experience.
Gross income (in Lithuanian, BRUTO) is the amount of salary or wages paid to an individual by an employer before any deductions are taken.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced AI models, including deep neural networks, transformers, LLM-based systems, Generative AI, RAG, and AI agents
  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines and frameworks to support LLM training and deployment
  • Leverage Microsoft CoPilot Studio and generative AI tools to build and integrate custom AI copilots and conversational agents
  • Develop, fine-tune, and evaluate LLM-based chatbots and domain-specific AI assistants
  • Document AI system designs, experiments, code, and processes for reproducibility, transparency, and knowledge sharing across the team

Requirements for the Candidate

Technical Skills:

  1. Strong software engineering and ML development skills, with over 5 years of professional experience in Python, C#, and Java, and extensive hands-on work with state-of-the-art machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, Hugging Face Transformers)
  2. Demonstrated expertise in designing and deploying machine learning, GenAI, or LLM-based solutions
  3. Practical experience building AI agents, including agentic workflows, autonomous decision-making pipelines, and tool-augmented agents
  4. Hands-on experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases (FAISS, Milvus, Pinecone) and embeddings
  5. Excellent understanding of deep learning, optimization, training pipelines, evaluation metrics, and validation strategies
  6. Experience with multimodal AI (CV, NLP, tabular, sensor or IoT data)
  7. Familiarity with MLOps, versioning tools, reproducibility practices, and deployment (Docker, Git, APIs)
  8. Understanding of federated learning, distributed learning, TinyML, or edge inference is a strong advantage

General Requirements:

  1. Hold at least a Master’s degree in computer science, AI, data science, engineering, or a related field
  2. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  3. Proficiency in English (C1); Lithuanian language proficiency (B2–C1)
