Kaunas University of Technology

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is one of the largest technological universities in the Baltics, a leading broad-based University in Lithuania that closely cooperates with business. KTU conducts international level studies and research in the fields of engineering, technology, physical, humanities, social sciences and arts. The university also contributes to the vitality of the country and its harmonious economic, social and cultural, knowledge-based development.

Competences that would be covered by beneficiary in the project: development of new explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) algorithms, trustworthy AI methodologies, and platforms; development of intelligent simulation modelling tools to earn public confidence-building AI solutions; evaluation of sustainability (including life-cycle assessment) of AI solutions applied in industry and other sectors as well.

Vytautas Magnus University

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) is a comprehensive university devoted to excellence in teaching, learning, research, arts and innovation, and fostering critical thinking, imaginative response as well as the desire and capacity for lifelong learning of students who will have an impact on the world, locally and globally. VMU has a reputation as a university with a globally oriented, free-spirited, liberal mindset.

Competences that would be covered by beneficiary in the project: AI research, application / AI methods in various sectors, focusing on segment-based speech recognition (e.g., general-purpose Lithuanian automatic speech recognition system).

Lithuanian University of Health Sciences

The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) is the largest institution of higher education for biomedical sciences in Lithuania, successfully integrating studies, research, and clinical practice. LSMU consists of two main academies: Medical Academy and Veterinary Academy. Students of Medicine, Odontology, and Nursing gain their practical skills at the LSMU’s Hospital Kauno Klinikos, which is the largest healthcare institution in the region of Baltic States.

Competences that would be covered by beneficiary in the project: activities in medical imaging and experience background required for precise managing of data collection and analysis, providing valuable labeled datasets based on expert knowledge. Research in the fundamental area.

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University

Vilnius Gediminas technical university (VILNIUS TECH) is an innovative Lithuanian university that prepares creative and highly qualified specialists. The university is a leader in the field of technological sciences with modern and labour market-oriented approach to studies. Scientific research and experimental development projects are carried out in 13 institutes, 3 scientific centres, 22 research laboratories.

Competences that would be covered by beneficiary in the project: R&I on sustainable and holistic development of electronic / information systems based on AI; reducing the need for huge computing resources (thus saving energy) for most image recognition methods.

ADVANCED PARTNERS

Tampere University (Finland)

Tampere University (TAU) is one of the most multidisciplinary universities in Finland. The University brings together research and education in technology, health and society. Tampere University is known for its excellence in teaching and research and it collaborates with hundreds of universities and organisations worldwide. University community consists of 21,000 students and over 4,000 staff members from more than 80 countries.

Competences that would be covered by beneficiary in the project: knowledge, experience, modern joint laboratories with industry (e.g., intelligent moving machines) and testing facilities for AI-based control systems, AI HUBs, CIVIT, Microsoft Centre; research area of Intelligent, self-driving electrical city buses, green energy, and reduction of air pollution. TAU Research Service offer pre- and post-award support services and the excellence of these services has been acknowledged by the EC’s Project Officers and Auditors.

Hamburg University of Technology (Germany)

The Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is a research university in Germany. Technology for Humanity is the core motto of the Hamburg University of Technology. The University train young people to be committed engineers with technology and sustainability jointly in mind. That is why research scientists work on basics and applications jointly with other colleagues and with business and industry.

Competences that would be covered by beneficiary in the project: knowledge, experience, modern laboratories / joint laboratories with clinical partners, collaboration with industrial partners for commercialization of AI solutions, ML algorithms for medical image processing and AI guided diagnosis and treatment, robotic systems, visibility. TUHH is part of a network of six Hamburg universities supporting The Hamburg Open Online University that aims to create a digital space where innovative and open learning offerings can be developed. Tech-transfer: TUHH was the first German public university to establish a technology transfer company (Tutech) to facilitate cooperation with industry, seen as a role model for universities in Germany and beyond.
