The team of SustAInLivWork (Centre of Excellence of Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Living and Working) invites researchers to collaborate with supervisors from SustAInLivWork partner institutions and to apply for postdoctoral fellowships under the Horizon Europe programme call scheme Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship and within these fellowships to make significant contributions in key areas of artificial intelligence, including innovative manufacturing technologies, energy, transport, and healthy living. This opportunity is available to outstanding researchers from any country.

Main information

Types of MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships under call HORIZON-MSCA-2025-PF-01-01:

European Postdoctoral Fellowships: These are accessible to researchers across the globe who want to participate in Research and Innovation (R&I) projects in Europe. This can involve either moving to Europe from any country worldwide or relocating within Europe.

Duration: 12 to 24 months.

Global Postdoctoral Fellowships: Designed for European nationals or long-term residents seeking to contribute to R&I projects beyond EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries.

Duration: 24 to 36 months (involving an outgoing phase of 12 to 24 months in a non-associated Third Country and a mandatory return phase of 12 months to a host organization in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country).

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Holding a PhD degree by the application deadline (September 10, 2025).
  2. A cap of 8 years’ research experience post-PhD.
  3. Adherence to mobility regulations, restricting stays to 12 months in the 36 months preceding the application deadline.

How to apply

  1. Checking eligibility. Before starting the application process, candidates, referred to as Fellows, must ensure they meet three main eligibility criteria concerning PhD attainment, research experience, and mobility.
  2. Finding a supervisor. The Fellow takes the initiative by exploring potential supervisors through SustAInLivWork partner’s hosting offers listed below and contacting potential supervisors by sending them:
  3. Researcher approval. The supervisor arranges meetings to select the Fellow. Once the suitable Fellow is chosen, both the Fellow and supervisor sign the Endorsement that confirms the selection and affirms the Fellow’s and supervisor’s claim for the postdoctoral position at the hosting institution.
  4. Application development. Fellow together with supervisor collaborate to develop the application. SustAInLivWork partner institutions assist in providing all templates (application, guides, tips, etc.), developing administrative A form, if necessary initiate the proposal submission via EU Funding & Tenders Portal.
  5. Proposal submission: Submit the application by the application deadline (September 10, 2025). It is recommended to submit it at least 24 hours before the deadline. If needed, you can resubmit the application anytime until the call is closed.

Agnė Paulauskaitė-Tarasevicienė

Agnė Paulauskaitė-Tarasevicienė is the head of the KTU Artificial Intelligence Excellence Centre and a professor at the KTU Faculty of Informatics. She is currently actively involved in highlighting the importance of artificial intelligence in business, politics, curricula, public education programs, and social media. The research group focuses on explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) algorithms, with applications in advanced anomaly detection for manufacturing, defect recognition on various surfaces using multimodal data, predictive maintenance for better resource use, and energy-efficient deep learning for edge devices.

Vidas Raudonis

Vidas Raudonis is a professor at the KTU Faculty of Electrical and Electronics. The scientist has created several prototypes based on numerical intelligence and image processing methods. In cooperation with the Penki Kontinentai Group, Raudonis developed prototypes of face detection and recognition programs. The research group works on smart automatic control systems and robotics, focusing on the use of industrial robots for complex tasks, deep neural networks for medical image analysis, non-contact vital sign monitoring, and mobile autonomous robots operating in complex environments.

Darius Milčius

Darius Milčius has authored or co-authored more than 40 publications on metal hydrides and 15 publications on solid oxide fuel cells. Additionally, he has developed 8 patents and applications at the Lithuanian Patent Office, 2-EPO patents on energy storage technologies, and 1-PCT patent application on hydrogen production using direct reaction of activated aluminium with water. The research centres on flexible energy storage solutions for renewable energy generation, focusing on the integration of wind and photovoltaic systems with advanced battery and hydrogen technologies. Emphasis is placed on the prosumer concept, digitalisation in the energy sector, and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning
