We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Mult. Paulius Astromskis as Chairperson of the Ethics Assessment Body (EAB) for the Centre of Excellence in AI for Sustainable Living and Working (SustAInLivWork) project. The EAB is a vital entity tasked with developing and overseeing the implementation of ethical policies within the project, ensuring adherence to the highest ethical standards and compliance with institutional, national, and international regulations.
The EAB is responsible for a range of crucial activities, including identifying and mitigating ethical risks, managing compliance issues, investigating potential ethical misconduct, and enhancing ethical awareness among project stakeholders. Its aim is to foster trust, transparency, and accountability in AI research, in alignment with the project’s core objective: creating sustainable, inclusive, and resilient AI solutions for society.
Reflecting on his appointment, Dr Mult. Astromskis stated: “Ethical integrity in AI is not merely about compliance with regulations; it is about embedding trustworthiness and transparency into the core of innovation. Our goal is to ensure that every development under the SustAInLivWork project meets the highest ethical standards, fostering solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also socially responsible and universally beneficial.”
Dr Mult. Paulius Astromskis brings extensive expertise as a multidisciplinary scholar with doctorates in Law and Management. He specialises in technology law, cybersecurity, and AI compliance management. His professional experience includes legal practice as an advocate and partner in his law firm, academic positions at Vytautas Magnus University, Vilnius University, and the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, as well as a substantial portfolio of research, teaching, and speaking engagements focused on legal technology, AI ethics, and cybersecurity.
Under his leadership, the EAB will take a proactive role in managing ethical considerations throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that ethical vigilance and responsibility remain central to all project activities.
